Be The Cause

Be the cause.

Be the cause.

Be the cause.

What does this mean? What in the world does this mean? This is actually the way that we should seek to be involved with the issues of social justice going on in the world. This is the spirit that we should have about the social ills in the world community. This is the way that we need to support those suffering in the world. We need to not only help these causes - we need to be the cause.

Being the cause is so much more than the normal financial support and two hours once a month on the weekends. It is more than kind of knowing what is going on with the people in that one African country. Being the cause is immersing yourself in the problems, injustices, and suffering of people around the world. Being the cause is experiencing solidarity with people who are living in the conditions of extreme poverty - realizing their plight, supporting them in realistic and meaningful ways, and living out your life without forgetting theirs.

We've got to do better. For them.

Up the anty. Experience solidarity. Be the cause.

Innovation...for them.

Why is it that most of the innovation that takes place in the world happens in developed countries? Well, I think I know the answer to that. The developed countries have all of the innovators. They have all of the educated people. They have all of the money. They have all of the physical resources. They have all of the things that need constant innovation (computers, technology, etc.). They innovate because they have to in order to survive in this global competition.

Ok. I understand that.

But why is it that most of the innovation that takes place in the world happens for developed countries, too? And, I know, I know. Really, I do. Competition. Bigger and better. Smaller and faster. Money, survival, opportunity. Money, again. I know. I really know. But, aren't these developed countries innovated enough?

Honestly, I am not saying that all innovation needs to stop in America or anything. I know what drives the world. But I also know this: there is not enough innovation going on for those living in developing countries. There is not enough innovation going on for those whose daily life skills, tools, and resources have not changed in years. There is not enough innovation going on for the biggest problems facing our world today. And it needs to change. Now.

We need innovation for them. We need innovation for the farmer who can't grow crops when there is a drought. We need innovation for the mother who has to walk 4 miles everyday to get water. We need innovation for the children who have to cook in an old clay oven. We need innovation for the poor who cannot afford to get the nutrients and vitamins their body needs. We need innovation for them, the least, the lower - for those who cannot innovate for themselves. That's what we need.

Oh, what is that? We already have that stuff? Well, then, why aren't these problems going away? If we already have these things, then we need to innovate a way to make it all work. We need to innovate better logistics and strategies to get it to them. We need to innovate better training to make the resources a part of their daily lives.

Basically, we need to innovate. We need to dedicate our mental capabilities, expansive resources, and prioritized money to them and their needs.

We need to give them our best.

We need to innovate...for them.

Be the Cause.

There are so many issues and causes in the world. Starvation. Child soldiering. HIV/AIDS. Malaria. Poverty. So many others. There are so many others. There are so many, many others. But what can we do?

We can be the cause. Be the cause. Take on the ownership of a certain cause. Experience solidarity with a specific issue. Know. Understand. Realize. Live in another person’s shoes. Go through what someone else has to go through. Immerse yourself so much in an issue and a cause that you take it so much upon yourself that you actually become the cause. Be the cause. Be the cause.

Why?

Because.

Because you can.

Because they need you.

Because it’s the right thing to do.
